Specific code 2015 ICD-9-CM Diagnosis Code 414.8
Other specified forms of chronic ischemic heart disease
  • 2015
  • Billable Thru Sept 30/2015
  • Non-Billable On/After Oct 1/2015

  • ICD-9-CM 414.8 is a billable medical code that can be used to indicate a diagnosis on a reimbursement claim, however, 414.8 should only be used for claims with a date of service on or before September 30, 2015. For claims with a date of service on or after October 1, 2015, use an equivalent ICD-10-CM code (or codes).
Convert to ICD-10-CM: 414.8 converts approximately to:
  • 2015/16 ICD-10-CM I25.5 Ischemic cardiomyopathy
    Or:

    Or:
  • 2015/16 ICD-10-CM I25.9 Chronic ischemic heart disease, unspecified
Approximate Synonyms
  • Cardiomyopathy, ischemic
  • Chronic coronary insufficiency
  • Chronic myocardial ischemia
  • Coronary insufficiency, chronic
  • Electrocardiogram: myocardial ischemia
  • Generalized ischemic myocardial dysfunction
  • Hibernating myocardium
  • Ischemic cardiomyopathy
  • Ischemic cardiomyopathy (heart condition)
  • Ischemic congestive cardiomyopathy
  • Myocardial ischemia
  • Silent myocardial ischemia
  • Stunned myocardium
Clinical Information
  • A disorder of cardiac function caused by insufficient blood flow to the muscle tissue of the heart. The decreased blood flow may be due to narrowing of the coronary arteries, to obstruction by a thrombus, or less commonly, to diffuse narrowing of arterioles and other small vessels within the heart. Severe interruption of the blood supply to the myocardial tissue may result in necrosis of cardiac muscle (myocardial infarction)
  • Blood deficiency in the myocardium caused by a constriction or obstruction of its blood vessels; frequently occurs in conjunction with hypoxia, which is reduction in oxygen supply
414.8 Excludes
  • coronary insufficiency (acute) (411.89)
Applies To
  • Chronic coronary insufficiency
  • Ischemia, myocardial (chronic)
  • Any condition classifiable to 410 specified as chronic, or presenting with symptoms after 8 weeks from date of infarction

ICD-9-CM codes are used in medical billing and coding to describe diseases, injuries, symptoms and conditions. ICD-9-CM 414.8 is one of thousands of ICD-9-CM codes used in healthcare. Although ICD-9-CM and CPT codes are largely numeric, they differ in that CPT codes describe medical procedures and services. Can't find a code?
