Thyroiditis can be classified into acute (thyroiditis, suppurative), subacute (granulomatous and lymphocytic), chronic fibrous (riedel's), chronic lymphocytic (hashimoto disease), transient (postpartum thyroiditis), and other autoimmune thyroiditis subtypes
