- 728.2 contains 19 index entries
Other specific muscle disorders- Arthrogryposis marked by congenital contractures involving two or more different joints with ankylosis, hypoplasia of the attached musculature, and multiple pterygia. Several types are recognized: Myopathic type is relatively rare and is characterized by muscle changes with fixed flexion deformities of the limbs and gross deformities of the chest and spine. Nuropathic type presents fixed extension or flexion deformities of the limbs. Distal type affects the distal portions of the extremities. Distal arthrogryposis is further divided into two types: At least 3 varies of X-linked distal arthrogryposis are recognized: 1. Lethal form with severe contractures, scoliosis, chest deformities, micrognathia, and death by age of 3 months. Psychomotor retardation may occur. 2. A mild to moderate forms with blepharoptosis, microphallus, cryptorchidism, inguinal hernia, and normal intelligence. 3. A sporadic form with mild symptoms which gradually improve, which is manifested main by moderate contractures and normal intelligence. Type I involves primarily the distal parts of the hands and feet and is characterized by overlapping fingers, clenched fists, ulnar deviation of the fingers, camptodactyly, positional foot anomalies, and generally normal intelligence. Type II is divided into several subtypes and, in addition to arthrogryposis, has a variety of associated findings, including short stature, cleft lip and/or palate, scoliosis, trismus, and dull intellect.
- Persistent flexure or contracture of a joint. (Dorland, 27th ed)

- 728.5 contains 2 index entries
Contracture of palmar fascia- A fibromatosis of the palmar fascia characterized by thickening and contracture of the fibrous bands on the palmar surfaces of the hand and fingers. It arises most commonly in men between the ages of 30 and 50.
- 728.6 is a specific code that can be used to specify a diagnosis
- 728.6 contains 10 index entries
Other fibromatoses of muscle ligament and fascia- 728.7 is a non-specific code that cannot be used to specify a diagnosis
Plantar fascial fibromatosis- Inflammation of the thick tissue on the bottom of the foot (plantar fascia) causing HEEL pain. The plantar fascia (also called plantar aponeurosis) are bands of fibrous tissue extending from the calcaneal tuberosity to the TOES. The etiology of plantar fasciitis remains controversial but is likely to involve a biomechanical imbalance. Though often presenting along with HEEL SPUR, they do not appear to be causally related.

- 728.71 contains 5 index entries
Other fibromatoses of muscle ligament and fascia- 728.79 is a specific code that can be used to specify a diagnosis
- 728.79 contains 10 index entries
Other disorders of muscle ligament and fascia- 728.8 is a non-specific code that cannot be used to specify a diagnosis
Interstitial myositis- 728.81 is a specific code that can be used to specify a diagnosis

Necrotizing fasciitis- A fulminating group A streptococcal infection beginning with severe or extensive cellulitis that spreads to involve the superficial and deep fascia, producing thrombosis of the subcutaneous vessels and gangrene of the underlying tissues. A cutaneous lesion usually serves as a portal of entry for the infection, but sometimes no such lesion is found. (Dorland, 28th ed)

- 728.86 contains 1 index entry
Muscle weakness (generalized)- A vague complaint of debility, fatigue, or exhaustion attributable to weakness of various muscles. The weakness can be characterized as subacute or chronic, often progressive, and is a manifestation of many muscle and neuromuscular diseases. (From Wyngaarden et al., Cecil Textbook of Medicine, 19th ed, p2251)
