- A condition in which the body's immune system stops red blood cells from forming or causes them to clump together. Autoimmune hemolytic anemia can occur in patients who have chronic lymphocytic leukemia (cll).
- Acquired hemolytic anemia due to the presence of autoantibodies which agglutinate or lyse the patient's own red blood cells.
- An acquired anemia caused by destruction of the red blood cells by autoantibodies. Causes include autoimmune disorders, lymphoproliferative disorders, and infections.
- Due to acquired antierythrocyte autoantibodies causing premature erythrocyte clearance by the spleen; antibodies can be warm or cold active; usually slow developing and treatable.
